Document review

Every document has a status.

To review, retained, set aside, incomplete: you know where each document stands. Your notes stay private, and missing documents are requested from the client directly from the file.

Missing documents are chased by email, reminders get lost, and nobody knows anymore what has been checked.

Each document carries a status, and each request to the client is tracked until it is received.

  • Four statuses

To review, retained, set aside, incomplete: the state of the file at a glance.

  • Private notes

Your working notes stay within the firm; the client cannot see them.

  • Tracked document requests

The client receives the request in their app, with reminders.

How it works

  1. 1

    Sort

New documents arrive as “to review”. You retain them, set them aside or ask for more.

  2. 2

    Annotate

A remark, a lead, a doubt: noted on the document, visible to the firm only.

  3. 3

    Request

A document missing? The request goes to the client’s app, and the reminder follows.

In detail

  • To review

    Documents received, awaiting your review.

  • Retained

The document goes into the evidence index.

  • Set aside

Duplicate, off topic: the document stays in the file, outside the index.

  • Incomplete

A partial conversation, an incomplete statement: a request to the client is ready to go.

  • Private notes

Visible to the firm only, never to the client.

  • Requests with reminders

What was requested, when, and what has been received.

Good to know

This information concerns French law.

Reviewing and choosing documents remains under the lawyer’s control: no document is retained or set aside without your decision.

Under French law, an extract of a conversation taken out of context can be challenged. The full source stays attached to each document, and the “incomplete” status lets you ask the client for the rest.

Private notes are part of the lawyer’s work and are never visible to the client.
