Good to know
This information concerns French law.
Under French law, the contribution to the children’s upkeep and education (contribution à l’entretien et à l’éducation des enfants), often called child support (pension alimentaire), is set by a court decision or by an agreement. Prismo does not calculate it and does not suggest any amount.
How exceptional costs are shared depends on what the court decision or agreement says. Keeping the receipts and a record of reimbursement requests helps your lawyer take stock.
If child support goes unpaid, there are remedies, in particular through the French child support recovery agency, the Agence de recouvrement et d’intermédiation des pensions alimentaires (ARIPA). Your lawyer can point you in the right direction.
