Good to know
This information concerns French law.
Under French law, what happens to property depends on the matrimonial property regime (community of property, separation of property, etc.) or, outside marriage, on the rules for the PACS (civil partnership) and for joint ownership (indivision). Prismo does not assess your situation: it gathers the material that your lawyer or your notaire (notary) will examine.
Property received by inheritance or as a gift is often subject to specific rules. Keeping the deeds and a record of the money helps trace where it came from.
This information is useful for dividing property and for preparing the sworn statement of assets (déclaration sur l’honneur).
